I grew up with a mad passion for art. After graduating from Iowa State University with a BFA in Graphic Design, I started my career path in advertising agencies working on branding, retail signage, newspaper ads, outdoor boards, packaging and website designs. I started at Meredith in 2006 working on custom magazine publications for clients; these included Dodge, Chrysler, Suzuki, Kraft Foods and Charming Shoppes.
In 2010, I moved into Meredith Premium Publications as art director for home decor and holiday issues. We created specialty magazines for specific interest such as home decor, gardening, food and holidays. I dove deep into designing layouts, art directing photo shoots and coordinating all of the parts and pieces needed to make our magazines. At the time, I worked on many issues besides the holiday titles, such as Beautiful Kitchens & Baths, 100 Ideas Flea Market Style, Refresh, Kids Rooms, Before & After and more.
Five years ago, I changed roles as the Senior Editor over all of the holiday titles. This means I concept, curate and hire to create stories for all of Better Homes & Gardens specialty holiday magazines. Our issues feature home tours, entertainment ideas, recipes, and DIY projects. Creating this content involves multiple collaborations with influencers, producers, writers, stylists, photographers, digital teams, retail brands and smaller makers. On top of making gorgeous stories, we offer valuable information, helpful instructions and inspiration to readers. Much of our content is then used by Better Homes & Gardens' website (bhg.com) and their social platforms to bring the latest and trendiest holiday content to followers.
